Meet the team

Rob Brown has spent more than 40 years helping families navigate the moments that matter most - farm succession, aged care, retirement, estate planning, and everything that comes with them.

His background spans psychology, business and financial planning. But what sets him apart isn't any single qualification - it's the ability to hold the whole picture. The financial and the emotional. The legal and the relational. The decision at hand and the ones that follow.

Rob holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, a Master of Business, and is a Certified Financial Planner. He has co-authored books and resources on succession, presented at conferences across Australia and New Zealand, and led workshops for industry and government.

“Planning only works when people feel heard.
My job is to help families listen to each other, speak honestly, and walk away with a plan they can all live with.”

Kate Paton

Kate grew up on a Merino sheep property in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, before working in agriculture in Melbourne and joining Peppin in 1998. After five years there, she and her husband Andy started a family and ran their own wool business, during which time she began assisting farmers with financial administration.

In 2020, Kate returned to Peppin part-time as Family Strategy Support Officer, helping families navigate government support payments, including aged care documentation.

Outside work, Kate enjoys tennis and pickleball, and watching her children, Chloe and Charlie, build careers in agriculture.

Marie Muldoon

Marie grew up on ‘Riveren’, a remote cattle station in the Northern Territory, before careers in event management in Singapore and VIP client relations at Paspaley Pearls in Darwin. She moved to Deniliquin in 2015 with her husband Chris and their three children, where they run a beef cattle feedlot.

Marie joined Peppin Family Consulting in 2018 and is the first point of contact for clients, managing appointments and correspondence with warmth and empathy.

Outside work, she loves spending time with family, friends and her many dogs and horses, and makes an annual trip back to the Northern Territory.

Anne Brown

Anne moved from Ireland to Sydney with her family in 1972, and trained as a Registered Nurse at St Vincent's and Prince of Wales Hospital, where she met her husband Robert Brown. They moved to Deniliquin in 1983, where Anne nursed at Deniliquin Hospital before starting a family and moving into small business administration.

Today, Anne works part-time in administration at Peppin Family Consulting, supporting Rob alongside Marie and Kate.

Outside the office, she enjoys time with her two grandchildren, friends, gardening, walking and tennis.

Grounded in family. Focused on yours.

Peppin Family Consulting has its roots in Deniliquin, where Colin and Barbara Brown founded Peppin Planners in 1958. For decades, they helped farming families navigate the financial and business decisions that shaped their futures.

Rob Brown grew up in that world. Working alongside farming families over many years, he began to see what was consistently missing - not in the financial advice, but in the process around it. Families were falling into conflict not because of poor finances, but because of poor engagement: unspoken expectations, unclear communication, and adviser-driven processes that left people hurt or confused.

That observation shaped everything that followed.

In 2019, the financial planning arm of Peppin Planners moved to new hands, and Rob shifted his focus entirely to what families needed most - support to have the hard conversations well, before they became the harder ones.

That's how Peppin Family Consulting was born.

Today the practice works with families across rural Australia, combining deep regional roots with decades of specialist experience in family transitions, communication and planning.

Relationships are the measure of success
A good outcome isn't just a signed document. It's a family that still talks at Christmas.

Feelings matter as much as facts
People make better decisions when they feel heard, safe and ready. We build that environment before we do anything else.

The right process changes everything
How a family arrives at a decision is as important as the decision itself. We focus on both.

We work with your advisers, not over them
We sit in the space between the financial, legal and human - connecting the pieces so nothing important falls through the gaps.

What we believe

It all starts with a conversation.
